Big History, Nov. 5th 5:30 pm-7:00 pm Green Mountain Academy for Lifelong Learning (GMALL) welcomes Union College Professor Mark Walker to discuss big history. Big history is an exploration of the past from the big bang to the present, dividing the history of the universe, earth, life, and humanity into periods using very large scales of time. This presentation will take us on a quick journey spanning billions of years, helping us to understand our current position in time and space. Registration is $18 in advance or $22 at the door. Collage Painting, Nov. 9 10:00 am-3:00 pm Green Mountain Academy for Lifelong Learning (GMALL) welcomes artist Anharad Llewelyn to lead this one-day collage painting workshop. If you love to paint, yet are looking for a new way to push color with mixed media, this class is for you! Students will start the day creating their own patterned paper samples to use in their mixed media collage painting. Working from an image of the student’s choosing, participants will paint with acrylic paint to make a base layer and then cover the painting with a variety of patterned paper. Please bring old letters, stamps, handwriting samples, recipes, and/or any paper supplies you would like to see incorporated into your finished painting. There will be many other options available, as well. You are guaranteed to have a terrific day while creating a personal and meaningful mixed media collage painting. Please bring a bag lunch. Equinox Full Moon Hike and Dinner, Saturday, Nov. 9th, 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.  Weather depending, we will hike through Equinox Preserve guided by Rick our steward of the Equinox Land Trust.  Arrive at Pond Pavilion for a Chef inspired rustic dining experience with a roaring stone fireplace, live music and views of the full moon reflecting on our pond.  Don’t feel like hiking? We will also offer the “take the car package” where we can shuttle you to the Pond Pavilion.  Come join in on this experience like no other.  We have limited seating for this event.  $85 per person (Tax & Gratuity not included).  Price also includes a selection of Beer/Wine & Soft Drinks.  Hike only price is $25.  Please contact our Concierge at 802-362-4700 to make a reservation. 

Love Travels Fast, Nov. 15th 7:30 to 9:30 pm, Nov. 16th from 2:00 to 4:00 pm & 7:30 to 9:30 pm and Nov. 17th from 2:00 to 4:00 pm Bennington Community Theater presents “Love Travels Fast,” an evening of seven short plays directed by Jennifer Jasper. The collection includes playwrights from Seattle, New York, the Berkshires and Bennington. Each ten-minute play explores love and acceptance in a unique style and emotional cadence. There are adult themes and some strong language. There is even a 10-minute musical! Community Tree Lighting, Nov. 24th In 1912 the very first public Christmas Tree lighting at Madison Square Park in New York City marked the start of the holiday season and a community tradition was born. In the years to follow, towns big and small would gather to turn on the twinkling lights together. Join our community the Saturday after Thanksgiving to flip the switch on our evergreens, plus cookies, caroling, and a visit from Santa, too!

Thanksgiving Concert – Taconic Chamber Players, Nov. 30th 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm, Manchester Community Library $15  Deborah Buck and Joana Genova, violins, Ariel Rudiakov, viola and Sophie Shao, cello perform string quartets by Mozart and Mendelssohn in what has become a popular tradition for families and their holiday guests.
