Hiking, Biking and Jogging in Vermont
You’re in the lap of luxury at The Equinox Golf Resort & Spa, and plentiful opportunities for fresh-air recreation right on our grounds—not least on our famous golf course. But you’ve also got opportunities aplenty for experiencing the scenic pleasures right at our doorstep by foot and by pedal.
Whether it’s a pleasant stroll through Manchester Village, a taste of the legendary Appalachian Trail, or an invigorating ride on the trails of Mount Equinox, you’ve got a plethora of options for getting out and about in the lovely summer landscapes of the Taconic Range and Green Mountains with our Luxury Collection resort as your home base!
Fantastic Vermont hiking awaits you mere steps from The Equinox. You can walk to the trailheads of the Equinox Preservation Trust, which manages close to 1,000 acres of mixed forests on the slopes of our signal peak, Mount Equinox, the 3,840-foot crown of the Taconic Range.
Whatever your fitness level or mood, there’s a route for you on the Preservation Trust lands. Stroll the short loop around Equinox Pond, a serene landmark within shouting distance of our resort; pick out the old stone walls in the woods along the Snicket; or trek up the Blue Summit Trail to Lookout Rock, which affords unforgettable views over the Manchester Valley and out to New Hampshire’s mighty White Mountains and Mount Monadnock (famously celebrated by Henry David Thoreau).
Your guest room or suite at The Equinox also puts you only four miles from two of the most famous long-distance footpaths in the world: the Appalachian Trail and the Long Trail. The woods and fields of Merck Forest offer additional hiking opportunities within easy reach of The Equinox.
Walking & Jogging
Lovely and historic Manchester Village awaits your perambulations! Our concierge here at The Equinox Golf Resort & Spa can provide you with a map to our hamlet so you can happily stroll or jog your way through the streets for some super-convenient exercise and sightseeing.
Cyclists also have the streets of Manchester Village at their disposal, not to mention fine countryside road biking in the town’s hinterland.
Many of the trails of the Equinox Preservation, meanwhile, are open to mountain bikers, including the Mountain Bluff, Aspen, Flatlanders, and Blue Summit routes: awesome and scenic adventures just minutes from the resort.
Come soak up the great outdoors as only Vermont delivers them with a stay at The Equinox Golf Resort & Spa, whether it’s on the hiking trail or the bike path!
