Winter Activities
  • Cross-Country Skiing -- Glide over groomed trails on Robert Todd Lincoln's Hildene Estate. Cross-country skis and snowshoes are available and are complimentary for all Equinox guests. Hildene is two minutes from the resort, and complimentary transportation is available.

  • Downhill Skiing -- A variety of terrain awaits skiers of all skill levels at Bromley (seven miles away) and Stratton Mountain (17 miles away).
  • Snowmobiling --Take snowmobile tours through pristine, snow-covered woods. Enjoy spectacular vistas of the Green Mountains and experience Mother Nature's beauty firsthand. Led by trained snowmobile drivers, guests ride on new, state-of-the-art snowmobiles over rugged mountain trails and logging roads. (15 minutes from the resort)
  • Snowshoeing -- Snowshoe treks are available on the preservation trails surrounding The Equinox. Please inquire for details on group size and availability. Use of equipment is complimentary.
  • Sleigh Rides -- Take a wintry sleigh ride, and enjoy Vermont's stunning scenery. (30 minutes from the resort)
  • Equinox Preservation Trust -- The Equinox Preservation Trust (EPT), a non-profit organization created in 1993, is dedicated to the protection and wise use of the wild plants on the Equinox Mountain. From Equinox Pond and its gentle trails to the rugged heights of stunted fir and spruce, the mountain has a stunning variety of natural habitats and places to wander. The trails, with varying terrain and difficulty, are maintained by the EPT and offer great hiking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing. A trail guide is available.
  • Merck Forest -- Hike, snowshoe, or backpack the 2,900 acres of woodlands, meadows, ponds, and streams in Merck Forest.
  • Falconry -- In this hands-on introduction to the art of falconry, you are taught to handle a Harris Hawk in the comfort of the hawk barn. $59 per participant/$29 per additional non-participant.
  • Tennis -- Enjoy indoor play from October 15 to April 15, on three newly surfaced, plexi-cushion courts and under a state-of-the-art, Yeadon all-weather cover.
  • Ice Skating -- Ice skating is available in the nearby Olympic-sized facility at Riley Rink, just a few minutes from the resort. Rental skates are available at the rink.
