One Of The Most Amazing New England Vacation Spots

Although we're celebrated as a spectacular New England vacation getaway for skiers and snowboarders, fantastic summer activities abound at The Equinox. Select from world-class mountain biking, horseback riding, and hiking, to name a few. Grab a backpack and explore 2,900 acres of woodlands, meadows, ponds, and streams in Merck Forest. Ride in a paddle boat or canoe along Emerald Lake or Lake Shaftsbury. Walk or jog in the early morning while the breathtaking sunrise stretches over the surrounding mountains. With one of our valuable New England getaway packages, you can enjoy the ultimate escape. Take advantage of the wide range of summer activities, to include:
Summer Activities
  • Mountain biking -- Take a mountain bike trek to the lands of the Equinox Preservation Trust, or tour the village on a bicycle from The Spa.
  • Horseback riding -- Enjoy a one-hour, scenic trail ride through the Green Mountains. Individual horseback riding is available by appointment. This facility is a 25-minute drive from the resort.
  • Boating and canoeing -- Enjoy Vermont's beautiful state parks at Emerald Lake and Lake Shaftsbury, where you can rent paddle boats or canoes. For a leisurely experience, try canoeing down The Battenkill River.
  • Falconry -- Discover the art of falconry during your next stay at The Equinox. Dating back thousands of years, this ageless hunting sport utilizes trained falcons and birds of prey to pursue wild game.
  • Hiking -- Hiking is available on the trails of Mount Equinox, within walking distance of the resort. Also accessible are the Appalachian and Long trails, which are only four miles from the resort.
  • Walking and jogging trails -- Request a walking or jogging tour map to guide you on routes around Manchester Village.
  • Shooting -- Visit the Orvis Shooting School for more details.
  • Archery -- Experience one of the world's oldest target sports. Grip a bow and take aim as you enjoy the thrill of modern archery with this program at The Equinox - perfect for everyone from beginners to experienced archers.
  • Fishing -- Test your skill at luring a trophy trout, in some of the finest streams in the Northeast. Private guided services and lessons can be arranged by the concierge. Fishing is available on Equinox Pond, The Battenkill River, and Emerald Lake.
  • Equinox Preservation Trust -- A nonprofit organization dedicated to the protection and wise use of the wild plants on Equinox Mountain. From Equinox Pond and its gentle trails to rugged heights of stunted fir and spruce, the mountain has a stunning variety of natural habitats and places to wander. The trails -- with varying terrain and difficulty -- are maintained by the EPT and offer great hiking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing.
  • Merck Forest -- Hike, snowshoe, or backpack in the 2,900 acres of woodlands, meadows, ponds, and streams in Merck Forest.
  • Tennis -- Enjoy indoor play from October 15 to April 15, on three newly surfaced, plexi-cushion courts and under a state-of-the-art, Yeadon all-weather cover.
