Orvis Fly Fishing School - April 14th through October 14th
Pursue outdoor precision at the Orvis Fly Fishing School at The Equinox. The school teaches tactics
for stream fishing. Enjoy an afternoon trip to The Battenkill River -- our moving-water classroom where
you'll learn how to correctly fish with different types of flies. On the final morning, there is a
catch-and-release session that gives you the opportunity to match wits with the wary inhabitants of our
two private ponds. Using video-recording equipment to monitor and analyze each student's casting
technique, our flagship school offers rods, reels, lines, waders, and fishing vests for the entire

Orvis Shooting School - July 23rd through October 19th
Novices and seasoned veterans can take advantage of our instinctive approach to shotgunning, based on
the English Churchill method. Enjoy a complete shooting system applicable to upland hunting,
waterfowling, and sporting clays. A key component of our teaching method includes grouping students
together according to their levels of ability and experience. By doing this, we can give all students
a sensible starting point and then help them progress through the various clay target venues with
positive results. Our courses include:
- Individual Wingshooting Instruction: Instruction includes the use of an Orvis shotgun (subject to availability). Price for one shooter is $175 per hour, and additional shooters are $25 each. Price does not include ammunition. Shooters must be at least 14 years old.
- Two Day Workshops: To offer students a total shooting experience, targets are launched from one of the country's best-planned collections of automatic and manual traps. Stations have been set up to simulate a wide variety of typical field shots -- including upland-type going-away and crossing angles, driven-style (high and low) incoming target presentations, and dove / waterfowl pass shooting situations. Instruction includes the use of an Orvis shotgun.
